Built in 1869 as a hunting lodge for the clan Macintosh, Meallmore Lodge has entertained royalty over the years, such as Edward the 7th. In later years it became a very renowned hotel in the Inverness area. In 1987 it was converted to a care home owned and operated by the Hennessey brothers. Meallmore Lodge has an enviable record in caring for clients affected by a wide variety of conditions.

Meallmore Lodge is situated in a beautiful location in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, having all of the benefits of easy transport links, whilst retaining the tranquility of a countryside location.

Client groups

Meallmore Lodge is a large care establishment subdivided into four distinct units, each of which provides care for clients affected by one of the following :

  • General frailty associated with the older adult
  • Dementia
  • Mental illness
  • Dual diagnosis mental illness/learning difficulty

 

Staff

All staff have or are working towards attaining SVQ social care qualifications. Registered nursing staff is also employed ensuring 24-hour medical care is available.

Services

Paramedical staff such as a physiotherapist and podiatrist are also employed. Medical cover is provided by local General Practitioners and Consultant support is available from Raigmore and New Craigs hospitals. There are also invaluable contributions from the local Community Mental Health team and social services professionals.


Meallmore Lodge, InvernessHotel services are available to all clients, although many prefer to live as independently as possible. A wide and varied menu choice is provided with full dietary consideration paid to individual client needs. Full laundry and domestic service are also made available and are included in the fees.

Family and friends are welcome visitors at any time and there is always a variety of refreshments readily available for them. A free bus service is available to and from Inverness for clients and visitors alike.

Visits may be arranged by contacting the home manager, our head office in Inverness or by simply dropping in. The Manager will be pleased to give conducted tours and answer any questions.
